Playing in the rain

This seems like a few and far between kind of moment so far this summer seeing as it hasn't rained much.  Robbie had a great time playing in the puddles the rain left.

Robbie Driving

Robbie has developed a fascination with sitting in the driving seat of cars and pretending he's driving.  He even wants us to buckle the seat belt.  Here are a few pictures with him in the driving seat of my car.

Playing In The Creek

With all the hot weather lately Grammy took Robbie to play in the creek in our back yard.  He had a great time playing with the water and the rocks, and grammy got some good pictures of the action.

Ride Those Horses

Robbie decided to climb on my back while I was laying on the floor, so I figured what the heck I'll lift up and see if he wants to ride.  He did pretty good with his balancing, but I was still worried about him falling off.  He eventually just slid right off (intentionally).  A few days later he did the same thing with Kelly, this time we got it on video.

Climbing

Robbie recently was able climb up on the couch, and once he was able to he just kept going up and down and up and down.  Now that he can climb on the chairs and the couches we have to be extra careful and watch him to make sure he don't fall from them.  One thing that helps is we don't let him stand up when he's up on the couch, and for the most part he's pretty good about it.

Water Boy

We've said before about how much of a water baby Robbie is.  Even when he was avoiding baths like the plague, he still enjoyed playing with water outside the bathroom.  He really enjoys playing with the hose, whether we spray him or he sprays the hose himself.  By the end of it he's usually pretty wet, but happy as could be.

He had been smiling a second before I took this picture, the bottom of his shirt is soaked

Yup He's A Boy

I got some mulch with grampy's truck to put around the yard, and Robbie kept "digging" the mulch I had laid down and was throwing it around.  So we figured lets let him dig in the bed of the truck where he wouldn't mess up what I already put down.  I'll let the pictures and video speak how much fun he had doing it.  Needless to say he needed a bath afterwards.

Playing with puddles

On Friday we went to Kelly's best friend's graduation for her masters.  It was pouring rain when we came in, so we got pretty wet.  Robbie did pretty good considering we were there for about 2-1/2 hours.  After we got out Robbie wanted to stretch his legs, he had no problem just walking around with all the people around.  He eventually found some puddles left from the rain and had a lot of fun playing in them.  He was tentative at first but once he went in he didn't want to leave! He was having too much fun splashing in the water.

Drawing on the Driveway

Robbie found a soft stone lining the walkway and tried to give it to me.  I showed him he could rub it on the walkway and it would draw like chalk.  He then spent the next ten minutes or so drawing with the stone randomly on the walkway and driveway.  Here's a video of some of it.

Robbie's Wheelbarrow

Robbie got a wheelbarrow from grammy.  He took right to it and loves wheeling it around, just like daddy and mommy do with the full size wheelbarrow.

Little Helper

Yesterday mommy and daddy were busy working in the yard.  Daddy was using this really loud thing called a chain saw.  Mommy said I couldn't help daddy, so I helped mommy work on fixing these stones on the ground she called it a patio.  I did my very best to "help" mommy, I had a lot of fun and did not want to give up the shovel when mommy needed it.  I also got really dirty while "helping" so I needed a bath afterwards.

Robbie's New Car

Kelly picked up this used toy car the other day, and it was just warm enough for him to go play with it yesterday.  He is just big enough to play with it while sitting in it.  However he's not very good a moving it around while he's inside of it.  That being said he still really loves playing in it.  He loved it so much that he threw a temper tantrum when I brought him back inside.  We went inside because it I  had gotten too cold to stay out anymore, even if he didn't care how cold he was.

Robbie Plays With Grampy

This past Sunday my parents came over for dinner.  Robbie had a lot of fun playing with Grampy swinging him around in a box.  It was really great seeing the two of them have a good time.  My dad doesn't get to spend as much time with Robbie and my mom since she baby sits for us a couple days a week while we work.  Below is a video of them playing.

Robbie Chases The Cats

Yesterday after I got home from work Robbie was in a mood to terrorize the cats.  I'd hear him squeal and then I see Tolkien and Willow run followed by Robbie as fast as his little legs could carry him (with out falling) carrying a cat teaser toy, repeat.  I finally got the video camera out and took this video.

Outdoor Fun

With all the nice weather we've been having Robbie got to enjoy some time outside much earlier in the year than I would have thought.  Of course now he is constantly pointing to go outside.  The top video shows Robbie playing in a rocking car at the play ground near city hall.  Below shows him playing with a ball that seems like it would be too big for him (no we don't normally let him walk on the concrete without holding one of our hands, we don't need him falling on that).  I enjoy going outside with Robbie, the problem is most of the time he wants me to carry him and take him where every he points and grunts to.  He's slowly getting better at actually walking on the grass with someone holding his hand, so I don't have to carry him quite as much (which is good he's heavy).

Spring

Robbie got to enjoy a beautiful first day of spring with his grammy.  However first Robbie decided he must eat his foot for breakfast before he could enjoy the weather.  He and grammy got to go for a nice walk and he played quite a bit outside, he also tried to look cool wearing grammy's sun glasses.  He finally decided he was worn out and it was time for a nap.

Is Robbie a Baby Einstein?

No I'm not referring to the video series, it just amazes both Kelly and me how much Robbie seems to be ahead of the curve.  He has gotten quite good at putting his animal puzzle pieces where they are supposed to go.  He may not be able to get them in the correct orientation very often, but he knows where they are supposed to go.  He really is just a little sponge and wants to know what everything is.  He even seems to be analyzing the child safety locks we have on some of the cabinets.

It also amazes us how smart he is with his food.  He will not eat it unless he has a utensil to use.  He also knows how to feed the fish and insists on doing it every night.  He found a piece of cat food on the floor recently and instead of putting it in his mouth like most kids his age he picked it up and put it in the cats' food bowl.  I'm still trying to figure out how he knows the right combination of buttons to push on our universal remote to watch a DVD.  He is very mechanically inclined - like me I guess.

Peek-A-Boo

Robbie really loves playing peek-a-boo.  Just  moving my head from one side of the bed post to the other can get him giggling.  He really loves it when I play it with him around his "work bench".   I look at him around the side then look at him through the window and he just laughs like crazy.  He gives himself the hiccups quite often when we play peek-a-boo there (picture below).  Here's a video we took of Kelly putting a blanket on him and him pulling it off.

Tickle Mommy!

Robbie randomly started poking my lower back, which tickled a little, but I exaggerated it and he found it hilarious.  He was laughing so hard he gave himself the hiccups.  Near the end of the video he started to really tickle me.  After the video Matt took him to play with some of his toys, but he quickly came back and started doing it again, it was very funny (probably funnier for Matt than me).

It took him about an hour to get rid of the hiccups after he was done.

Silly little bear!
