Soothing The Cranky Robbie

We drove overnight to Greensboro, NC on our way to Myrtle Beach.  After about 45  minutes in Robbie just started to cry and cry and there seemed to be no way of getting him to stop.  That is until Kelly started showing videos to Robbie on her phone.  However only videos of his friend Leo would do, he would just start crying again if she showed him any other video, so it was all Leo for about 20 minutes.  It was about then when Kelly caught a whiff of what the real problem was.  Which led to a diaper change on the side of the road (it would have been a while until we hit the next exit), which soon led to a sleeping Robbie.

Leo Mesenger, Robbie's favorite friend, turned a magnificent one year old January 24.  To help him celebrate his strength in the force, friends and family gathered to celebrate in a Star Wars themed party.  Matt was in Florida on business, so it was just the two of us.  There were quite a few little ones there, and as usual, Robbie had no interest in the boys.  Sorry guys.  After socialization, we all lined up and ate the Star Wars goodies.  Robbie really enjoyed the guacamole dip and kept trying to steal cookies.  At one point, he had an audience of grandmothers, grandfathers, and admirers watching Robbie as he learned different ways to wave at everyone.  There was the hi wave, the Miss America wave, the Pope wave, and he even bowed when he was done!  Then there was the pop quiz where we all had to answer questions to see how well we knew Leo.  Instead of cake, they had Lion Cake Pops - little pops of cake dipped in chocolate and designed to look like lions.  Gifts were also opened, and we made sure they got to see our wonderful Lion chair.  Robbie has a matching one that I hope the boys will get to enjoy when they get bigger.  Before we left, we ended up getting a few nice pictures of Robbie, Claire, and Leo sitting together with balloons and mothers.  The Kent State Babies! Robbie slept so hard on the (now) short drive home he didn't even wake up when we stopped by Grammie's house and instead slept on the floor for over an hour before a cat stepped on him and woke him up.  The party was a success - Happy Birthday Leo!

The Koteli and Mesenger's day out

For the first time since Leo came home from the hospital we all got to hang out with the entire Mesenger family.  It was great fun, it started at the Rockefeller Park greenhouse.  We then went on to have a picnic lunch.  Leo took a couple naps Robbie did not and was a little cranky near the end of it.  It was a perfect day for the outing, clear and not too hot.  Unfortunately Robbie got a mosquito bite, and had a fairly bad reaction to it (recovered just fine though).

Leo seems to be entertained by Robbie, while
Robbie seems to be unsure of what to think of

Hey Little Buddy

I got to meet Leo for the first time today, I really like him.  He's smaller than me, but mommy says that's because he is younger, I'm not used to seeing smaller people than me it was a fun experience.  I kept having this urge to hold his hand, his mom Cori kept calling it "super cute".  Mommy and Mrs. Cori seemed to have a good time too.  When do I get to see Leo again Mommy, I can't wait.
